![]() ![]() While Fauvism as a style began around 1904 and continued beyond 1910, the movement as such lasted only a few years, 1905–1908, and had three exhibitions. These painters were called “fauves,” or wild beasts. In the early 1900s artists used a heightened sense of color to express a strong emotional response to nature. Do read the book! In the book "Letters to Theo", I was impressed with Van Gogh's vast understanding of color and how he would see the seasons affecting the atmosphere and therefore, the colors in the landscape.
